If you plan to run a bed cover, rooftop tent options can become significantly limited. Most bed rack systems require direct mounting to the bed rails or bed sides, which often conflicts with the mounting hardware and rail access needed for tonneau covers.

Even if both products fit the vehicle individually, they are typically not compatible when used together.

If keeping a bed cover is a priority, a cab or roof-mounted rack setup is generally the best alternative. This allows the bed cover to remain in place while still providing a secure and reliable mounting location for a rooftop tent.

Garage clearance: Adding a rooftop tent and rack system increases overall vehicle height, which can limit access to garages, parking structures, and covered drive-throughs. Always measure your total vehicle height after installation and compare it against clearance limits to avoid accidental contact or damage.

Aerodynamics: Mounting a tent higher on the vehicle increases wind exposure, which can affect driving dynamics. Increased wind resistance may result in additional road noise, reduced fuel efficiency, and more noticeable crosswind sensitivity, especially at highway speeds.
