How to Install a SkyCamp

Directions for how to mount a SkyCamp, SkyCamp Mini and SkyCamp 2X.

Updated over a week ago

Our roof top tents feature a universal mounting system so they can fit on almost any vehicle.

They are designed to be mounted on two normal cross bars, a full roof rack system, or a bed rack system.

To properly and safely mount an iKamper RTT, please make sure that whatever rack or crossbars you choose meet the following guidelines:

The roof rack or cross bars have a dynamic weight load of 165 lbs. or more for the Skycamp 2.0 and Skycamp 3.0(4X). Or a dynamic weight load of 125 lbs. or more for the Skycamp 2X and Skycamp Mini

A minimum distance of 30" between cross bars for the Skycamp and Skycamp 2X. A minimum distance of 22" between cross bars for the Skycamp Mini.

You can find the dynamic weight load for your vehicle's roof listed in the user manual. The manufacturer of your aftermarket cross bars may also have this information available.

Our Skycamp 2.0 and Skycamp 2.0 Mini rooftop tents come with the Mounting Brackets 2.0, which are compatible with a max cross bar height of 1.2" and a max width of 3.5." Our Skycamp 3.0 series roof top tents come with the Mounting Brackets 3.0, which are compatible with a max cross bar height of 2", width of 5". These are the newest mounting systems and are compatible with the mounting bracket locks. For larger cross bars, brackets 1.0 should be used.
